HUPAD provides technical and strategic regulatory services to advance Harvard’s planning priorities. In collaboration with Harvard Public Affairs & Communications (HPAC) and the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), HUPAD provides the University with guidance concerning complex project approval processes in both Cambridge and Boston. HUPAD serves as a liaison with the area’s regulatory authorities to ensure common understandings of requirements and plans. These services help to ensure that Harvard’s development initiatives proceed efficiently, on schedule, and consistent with university and host community plans. HUPAD manages public reporting, permitting, and licensing requirements and engages in public processes related to the physical campus. A significant portion of this work is done to support capital projects.
